glenmorangie Cadboll Estate

The Cadboll Estate 15 is Glenmorangie’s newest release. Many Scotch aficionados credit Glenmorangie with being one of Scotland’s most consistent producers of superior whiskies. They also credit the Distillery with being one of Scotland’s most innovative distilleries. In the 1980s, Glenmorangie was one of the first distillers to experiment with finishing their whisky in port and sherry butts casks.

However, their most recent release, The Cadboll Estate 15 year old, is unique in another way. It is Glenmorangie first single estate whisky, meaning that they grew te barley, distilled, and matured the whisky entirely on the Distillery’s property.

The whisky is aged and matured in first-fill American oak barrels. Cadboll Estate carries an age statement of 15 years, meaning that the youngest whisky used is at least 15 years old. The age of maturation and the quality of barrels promises an intense oak depth and rounded smoothness.

Tasting Notes —

Nose: Intense and crunchy, with lots of oak, peanut brittle, malty or biscuity notes, and hints of crème brûlée. After a while, some orange oil and lemon zest. Ripe pear emerges, along with a subtle hint of menthol. A splash of water opens the floral nature of the whisky with hints of jasmine, rose and honeycomb.

Palette: A voluptuous, creamy texture leads into an explosion, of soft, rich, sweet flavours: heather honey, butter candy, white chocolate, pears, apricots and mandarin segments, along with a balancing eucalyptus or menthol note.

Finish: The flavour lingers for a long time, with more sweet mandarin orange, gentle toasty oak and vanilla.
